Staff Spotlight: Crystle

Easy one... what's your name?
Crystle

Where do you work in the Library and what's your position?
Technical Services as a Library Technician Cataloger

How long have you worked at the Library?
3 months

What do you like best about your job?
Seeing all the brand new publications that come into the library is by far the best part of my job.

What is the proudest moment in your life?
It's hard to decide which moment was my proudest, but finishing graduate school with a 4.0 was pretty great. The immense relief at being done undoubtedly elevated the experience.

What is the most important thing you have learned in the last five years?
Expectations are premeditated resentments! This has freed up so much energy to focus on what is actually within my control, and to release the what is not.

Three words to best describe you:
Fun, creative, industrious.

If you could witness any historical event, what would you want to see?
I'd like to see the first public display of Edison's light bulb in 1879. The modern parallel would be the presentation of the first iPhone (specifically the touch screen technology) by Steve Jobs in 2007 which we can all see on YouTube, so that one is less mystical. Witnessing the original paradigm shift into the modern technological age would have been really meaningful.

Favorite book quote?
“If something is going to happen to me, I want to be there.” -- Albert Camus, the Stranger.

What is the weirdest thing you’ve ever eaten?
Natto. They're sticky, fermented beans that many people love and consume daily. I am not counted among them.

What is your favorite thing to do in Temple?
I enjoy First Friday's downtown. It's nice to grab a meal at Bird Creek, then go see what the artisans are selling, and then top it off with a nice Raspado from a food truck, or sugary soda pop from Treno's while letting the kids play at the Santa Fe plaza playground.

You’re happiest when?
I'm camping or hiking in the sky islands of Arizona with my family and friends.
