Book Club Kits
Are you in a book discussion club? The Temple Public Library is hoping to make life a little bit easier for book club members in the area. With funding from the Friends of the Temple Public Library, book club kits have been put together for checking out by book clubs. Each kit consists of a canvas bag containing 6 to 12 copies of a book, as well as possible discussion starters. A variety of books were selected which lend themselves to lively discussion.
Fiction titles include: A Lesson Before Dying (by Ernest Gaines), The Help (Kathryn Stockett), Speed of Dark (Elizabeth Moon), Deception Point (Dan Brown), and Go Set a Watchman (Harper Lee).
For those who prefer to read non-fiction, titles include: Killing Jesus (Bill O'Reilly), The Greatest Generation (Tom Brokaw), and Dreams from My Father (Barack Obama).
Book club kits may be checked out for six weeks, to allow the book club time to get them distributed to their members, read the book, and hold their discussion.
The library accepts requests for new kits. Approval is based on broad appeal and available funding. Creation of a new kit can take 3 to 6 months.
